The Savannah-Chatham police department is investigating a shooting Tuesday night that left a 25-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.
At about 5:22 p.m. police responded to a residence on the 600 block of West 54th Street, where the man was driven after being shot, said Eunicia Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman. He was transported to Memorial University Medical Center, Baker said.
The man was reportedly shot while walking near West 38th and Montgomery streets. Detectives are working to verify the location of the shooting and the identity the suspect, Baker said.

Man injured in Iowa Street shooting
Savannah-Chatham police are investigating a shooting Tuesday night on the 2100 block of Iowa Street that injured a 20-year-old man.
Police responded to reports of a shooting about 11:58 p.m., said Eunicia Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman. Investigators learned that man arrived at Memorial University Medical Center in a privately owned vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries, Baker said.
The man was reportedly sitting outside of a residence when shots were fired from a light-colored sedan. The vehicle sped off in an unknown direction. Anyone with information on this case should call Crimestoppers at 912-234-2020.
Officials investigate Isle of Hope fire
The Isle of Hope Fire Department is investigating a Wednesday night dock fire near Grimball Pointe Road and Waite Drive. Firefighters were called to the dock just after 8 p.m., according to Savannah-Chatham police.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene. Officials say a boathouse and dock were damaged, but no injuries were reported.
