Two Savannah men on Wednesday were indicted on malice murder and related charges in the February slaying of Marray Samuel Martin.
Nathaniel Lanell Johnson and Anthony Bernard “Amp” Parrish Jr., both 22, caused Martin’s death on Feb. 24 by shooting him, the Chatham County grand jury said in returning an eight-count indictment.
In addition to the malice murder count, the grand jury indicted the pair on a felony murder count for causing Martin’s death during the commission of the felony of aggravated assault.
Martin, 20, was fatally shot during a “promoted house party” at 2101 Florida Ave.
Testimony at a preliminary hearing showed that Parrish grabbed a firearm from an accomplice and shot Martin once in the abdomen.
Both men also were indicted on charges of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, aggravated assault and, in Johnson’s case, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The aggravated assault count involves the non-fatal shooting of Nyrobi Brown during the same incident.
The indictment includes a number of Juvenile Court adjudications for Parrish as part of an aggravation count, a recidivist action for Johnson based on two past Superior Court convictions and repeated Juvenile Court adjudications for Johnson in an aggravation count.
