Savannah-Chatham police are investigating after four Savannah firefighters escaped serious injury Friday evening when their fire engine was struck by a bullet, according to Mark Keller, Savannah Fire spokesman.
The firefighters had just finished helping a citizen about 6 p.m. on Deerfield Avenue and were traveling north on White Bluff Road, just south of Wilshire Boulevard, when a bullet struck the driver’s side windshield. The bullet ricocheted against the inside of the windshield and landed on the dashboard.
Two firefighters were hit with shattered glass but did not require medical treatment, Keller said.
There are no suspects at this time.
