Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Islands Precinct investigators ask the public’s help in identifying a man who attempted to steal a cart full of merchandise and assault an employee on Jan. 17, said police spokeswoman Darnisha Green.
Just after 9 p.m., Metro responded to Target on the 1900 block of Victory Drive after a suspect attempted to exit the store with several high-priced items, eventually attempting to load them into a vehicle parked outside.
When a Target employee approached the suspect, he brandished a knife stolen from the store. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle traveling in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported, said Green.
The suspect is described as a white male with short hair wearing a white shirt and brown pants. His vehicle is possibly a gray Pontiac of an unknown model.
A second man shown in surveillance footage wearing a light colored hat, brown jacket, blue shirt and jeans is also wanted for questioning.
