An investigation conducted by the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team (CNT) has led to a record heroin seizure.
More than half a kilogram of heroin, with an estimated street value of up to $500,000, was seized.
In November of last year, CNT, with the assistance of the Savannah-Chatham police, arrested 47-year-old Terrence Scott of Decatur, Georgia, following the seizure of a large amount of heroin. Scott was arrested on multiple felony drug charges including trafficking, and he remains in the Chatham County Detention Center after being denied bond.
CNT continued its investigation into Scott and identified associates and locations in Chatham County where Scott and his associates were believed to have frequented. Agents searched a house on Jan. 29 in Savannah and found a large amount of heroin inside.
Scott is a Savannah native. but currently resides in Decatur, Georgia. CNT’s arrest of Scott marks his 44th booking in Chatham County, with his earliest arrest dating back to 1987. 21 of those bookings are for misdemeanor-related charges and some of the other bookings are for federal holds. This was Scott’s sixth drug-related charge.
“This is a good day for CNT, said CNT Director Everette Ragan. "This is largest heroin seizure in the agency’s history and is a testament to the agents’ hard work and thorough investigative skills. Our top priority is keeping drugs off the streets, and I’m proud to say that because of the agents’ dedication to that priority, we were able to prevent this heroin from making it into our community.”
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
