Chatham to destroy 600 pounds of drugs
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is destroying more than 600 pounds of drugs its deputies recovered during recent operations.
On Wednesday, the office displayed the marijuana and other drugs that deputies from the Criminal Interdiction, Street Operations and K-9 units have confiscated. At the presentation, Sheriff Roy Harris congratulated the deputies for their work getting narcotics off the street.
Through drug interceptions, the sheriff’s office also seized more than $600,000 in cash and numerous weapons. The money will be used to buy equipment for training, said department spokesman Pete Nichols.
