Police say a Savannah man suspected of kidnapping and beating two local teenagers on Friday is in custody.
Rashad Cummings, 20, turned himself in to authorities about 1 a.m. Monday, said Sonny Cohrs, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman. He was charged with kidnapping.
Detectives believe Cummings abducted two teens — one of whom is suspected of stealing his car — and left them injured and tied up in a Pooler subdivision on Friday.
Cummings reported his car stolen from the 4300 block of Rockdale Street on Friday, and it was located about 10:30 that evening, Cohrs said. Later, the teens — a 19-year-old and a 15-year-old — were found beaten and bound in Pooler, Cohrs said. Neither teen’s injuries were believed to be life threatening.
The case is still being investigated.
