Eight people are facing felony drug charges following an undercover drug operation at a Widespread Panic concert held in the Savannah Civic Center last Friday.
Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team agents, along with agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration, attended the Widespread Panic concert held at the Savannah Civic Center.
Undercover agents made purchases of various forms of controlled substances including heroin and LSD. Agents also seized a cylinder containing nitrous oxide after observing persons purchasing balloons filled with nitrous. Eight people were arrested on felony drug charges and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center. U.S. currency and a vehicle were also seized during the operation.
The successful operation brought together local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in an effort to keep drugs out of the concert area. The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department also assisted in the operation.
The arrests made in this operation are separate from any additional arrests that may have been made by other law enforcement agencies.
