The body of an adult male was found Sunday evening in the Ogeechee River at the Effingham-Bulloch County line.
A search began for the swimmer about 5:30 p.m. Sunday following a report of a man not surfacing after jumping into the river from Steel Bridge on Ga. 119.
The body was recovered about 7 p.m. by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, said Effingham County Sheriff’s Office spokesman David Ehsanipoor.
The investigation will be handled by the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of Effingham County.
Identification was being withheld Sunday evening pending notification of next of kin.
