Detectives are looking for a 19-year-old man they believe stole a $38,000 watch from a downtown Savannah jewelry store earlier this month.
Warrants charging Rashamel Okise Gardner with robbery by sudden snatching have been filed, said Julian Miller, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman.
Detectives identified Gardner as one of two men who walked into Levy Jewelers about 2 p.m. Aug. 1, asked to try on a gold Rolex watch, then ran out of the door and south on Drayton Street, Miller said.
Police are asking the public’s help locating Gardner, who stands about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds.
Police are asking anyone with information on Gardner’s location or other aspects of the case to call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
