Tyrone Griffin was driving north on Waters near Althea Parkway at 3:11 a.m. when the 1999 Honda Accord crossed the center line into the southbound lane, police said. Police said he overcorrected and lost control of the car, which slid back across the northbound lane and into a tree.

Ga. 204/Whitefield Ave. closure planned
The Georgia Department of Transportation announced an eastbound single-lane closure of Ga. 204 Spur/Whitefield Avenue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting.
A contractor for DOT will install a temporary, single-lane closure near Oak Bluff Drive and continuing to Old Whitefield Avenue.
The closure is necessary for the contractor to work on storm drainage, a DOT spokeswoman said. She said a flagger will direct traffic.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and reduce speeds. Message signs, barrels and/or cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes.
