Police say violence in Savannah on Saturday left two people dead and three others hospitalized. One of those hospitalized is a teenage juvenile.
Detectives do not believe the cases are related, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman Julian Miller said Sunday night.
The body of Moses Mack, 57, of the 800 block of East Anderson Street was found in his bed about 8:30 a.m. Saturday with head trauma, Miller said.
Hector Brown, 36, was killed and two others were injured about 11:29 p.m. in a shooting on the 1200 block of East 39th Street.
Miller said Brown and the other two shooting victims left a party in that block of Savannah’s Live Oak neighborhood when the shots were fired. They reported a man in a pickup pulled up beside their vehicle and opened fire, Miller said.
The three men were taken to the hospital in private vehicles. Brown was pronounced dead on arrival, and the other two men were treated for their injures, Miller said.
Additionally, a 16-year-old boy was shot early Saturday morning. The teenager was found in the street on the 700 block of West 42nd Street about 1:08 a.m. suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Miller said. The teen was taken to Memorial, where he was listed in critical condition as of Sunday night.
Miller said investigations are progressing in each case, and that detectives believe the victims and suspects in each case were known to each other.
No further information about the cases was available late Sunday.
