Savannah-Chahtam police are asking the public’s help in identifying a man caught on surveillance video stealing cash from a Savannah convenience store in early December.

The cameras recorded the suspect, a dark-skinned male between 5-foot-11 and 6-foot-1 who weighed about 180 to 200 pounds, walking into the Parker’s in the 5300 block of Skidaway Road at DeRenne Avenue about 12:30 p.m. Dec. 7, said Eunicia Baker, police spokeswoman.

The man entered the store’s back office, located and then stole an undisclosed amount of cash, Baker said. He was encountered by an employee as he attempted to leave the restricted area. He then asked directions to the rest room that he entered before leaving the store.

Baker said employees attempted to approach him, but he fled the parking lot in a silver, older model Buick.

Investigators do not believe the suspect is tied to recent Parker’s robberies at other Chatham County locations.

Baker described him as bald with a muscular build.

Anyone with information on this suspect’s identity or location is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
