CNT makes four arrests and seizes $1,770 in drugs
Four people have been arrested following an investigation by the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team.
Seized Oxycodone, a severe pain reliever, has an estimated street value of as much as $1,770, said Gene Harley, CNT spokesman.
Earlier this month, CNT began investigating Donald West Jr., 53, and Shane Simon, 26, after receiving a tip that alleged the two were selling prescription drugs. CNT identified West and Simon as the leaders of a distribution ring involving several other persons and learned the men allegedly obtained a number of Oxycodone pills, Harley said.
On Wednesday, undercover CNT agents conducted a surveillance operation during which time they reported observing West and Simon meeting with two other individuals suspected of being involved in the distribution ring.
The agents made contact with all the suspects and seized 59 Oxycodone pills, Harley said.
CNT identified the two other individuals as Jason Woodward, 32, and Stephanie Murphy, 30.
West, Simon, Woodward and Murphy are charged with conspiracy to sell a controlled substance.
Additionally, Woodward and Murphy were charged with reckless conduct due to a juvenile child being present during the drug transaction, Harley said.
The four remained in the Chatham County jail Monday following their arraignment in the Chatham County Recorders Court.
West has been arrested 22 times in Chatham County, including eight times by CNT, Harley said.
CNT asking for public help locating suspects
The Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team is seeking the public’s assistance in locating two wanted persons.
Agents are looking for 45-year-old Ashley Owen, also known as Robert Ashley Owen, of Bloomingdale and 42-year-old Robyn Whatley of Midway, said Gene Harley, CNT spokesman.
Both persons are wanted in connection with a CNT investigation conducted earlier this year, he said.
Owen is wanted for sale of Hydrocodone, a controlled substance, Harley said. Owen is described as a white male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 250 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. His last known address was 225 Carlton Drive in Bloomingdale, Harley said.
Whatley is wanted for possession of a controlled substance, crack cocaine, Harley said. She is described as a white female, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Her last known address was 111 Woods Drive in Midway, Harley said. Both persons are believed to be in the Savannah area and may be frequenting hotels along the U.S. 17 corridor, Harley said.
