Police are currently investigating two separate incidents involving two Statesboro High assistant coaches and students.
The investigation began on April 25 when a parent notified the Statesboro police department that, beginning in November, Statesboro High Assistant Coach Luke Edward Parks began a relationship of a questionable nature with a 16-year-old female student at the high school, according to a news release from the department. The extent of the relationship is still under investigation. Parks had resigned from his position at Statesboro High prior to the incident being reported to police. Statesboro police have taken a warrant for the arrest of Parks.
On April 28, Statesboro police received information that Statesboro High Assistant Coach Jeffery Tyler Crowder had engaged in sexual contact with a 16-year-old female student, according to the news release. After further investigation, Tyler was arrested on school grounds on Wednesday and charged with sexual assault.
Both cases are still under investigation. More charges and arrests are expected, police said. Each case has a separate victim and the cases are not being investigated as related. No further information was released by police Wednesday.
