A 27-year-old Savannah man is behind bars and charged with an April 26 double shooting in midtown Savannah that took a teenager’s life.
Norman “Jookie” Koonce Jr. of Savannah is charged with murder, two counts of possession of a firearm by first offender, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, criminal attempted murder, aggravated assault and aggravated battery, said Eunicia Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman.
Koonce was arrested Friday by detectives from metro’s Central Precinct and U.S. marshals.
Investigators believe Koonce is responsible for the shootings of 16-year-old Quahfee Murphy and a 23-year-old man about 9 p.m. April 26 at a residence on the 3800 block of Bull Street, Baker said. Murphy succumbed to his injuries. The other man was transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment.
