Police are on the scene of a Savannah shooting that took place around 4 a.m. on Friday according to Savannah-Chatham police spokesman Julian Miller.
Our news partners at The Coastal Source reports:
Some residents of the Tremont Park neighborhood in Savannah awoke to the sound of gunshots Friday morning.
Metro Police and Southside Fire-EMS personnel responded to a couple areas of activity. A little earlier than 4 a.m., dispatchers received a call of "shots fired" in the area of Ford and 2nd Avenues in southwest Savannah.
Exactly what officers and paramedics were dealing with on scene has not been stated, but a neighbor told WJCL-abc that she heard 9 gunshots--6 fired during the first round and then 3 shots during a second round.
WJCL cameras were the first on scene. Our video shows a man getting loaded into an ambulance in the 2100 block of Ford Avenue. Authorities said a man was shot in the tricep and was being transported to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.
For more than an hour Friday morning, Tremont Road was closed to traffic while Metro detectives investigated the shooting and the incidents that lead to the shooting. At about 7 a.m., Tremont Road was reopened to traffic.
