Savannah-Chatham police say one man was taken to a hospital Friday night after being shot at a gas station on Savannah’s westside.

Just after 8 p.m., the man was walking out of the Quik Stop at 1450 West Bay St. when someone shot him, said police at the scene.

He was taken to Memorial University Medical Center with injuries described as serious.

Shortly before 9 p.m., police had the gas station’s parking lot cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape while forensics officers and detectives worked.

Police ask anyone with information on the shooting to call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

Investigators can be reached confidentially at 912-525-3124.
