Philadelphia police arrested 37-year-old Larry Bennett Wednesday on attempted kidnapping warrants issued by Savannah-Chatham police in February.
Bennett’s extradition to Savannah has been formally requested, said Eunicia Baker, metro police spokeswoman. His date of return to Chatham County is not yet determined.
On Feb. 20, a Downtown Precinct detective driving near Gwinnett and West Boundary streets observed a male suspect forcing a female into a white 2004 Honda Odyssey. The female, who had sustained injuries, escaped to a bystander’s vehicle, as the suspect entered the van’s driver’s seat. The suspect fled when the detective attempted to stop him.
A brief pursuit of the suspect ensued from the Interstate 16 ramp to Interstate 516 before metro officers lost sight of him on northbound Interstate 95, Baker said.
Bennett has warrants for attempted kidnapping, theft by taking and battery.
