Metro police took to Twitter on Friday night to officially advise downtown revelers to stop trying to swim in the Savannah River.
“The river looks inviting in #downtownSavannah but don’t do it,” tweeted the Savannah-Chatham police department about 9:30 p.m.
Apparently, two male revelers were arrested for just that earlier in the day.
The river, which sees heavy port traffic and is anything but clear, has strong currents. In addition to being illegal, jumping in the river is dangerous.
