Police say four people suspected of repeatedly entering cars were arrested Wednesday morning in the Georgetown area.

The incident began at about 4:48 a.m. in a Georgetown area apartment complex on Saint George Boulevard. An officer conducting extra patrols of the area due to a recent spike in vehicle break-ins noticed an unoccupied black Jeep Cherokee with opened doors, said Eunicia Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman. After checking the Jeep, the officer observed a Honda Accord speeding out of the complex, prompting a traffic stop at King George Boulevard and Ga. 204.

The Honda was occupied by Cameron Rauls, De-Andre Baker, Lawrence Walker and Kewanee Lewis. All four are 20-years-old. The driver authorized the police department’s search of the vehicle, which uncovered an electronic tablet confirmed stolen from the Jeep Cherokee.

West Chatham Precinct detectives confirmed that Rauls, Baker, Walker and Lewis where the suspects who unlawfully entered and attempted to enter at least four vehicles in the Georgetown area Wednesday morning, Baker said. Detectives believe they could be linked to at least a dozen entering auto cases in Georgetown.

They were charged with entering auto.
