Police say they arrested a Savannah man Tuesday morning for beating, threatening and shooting at his girlfriend.

Eric Keywon Davis, 23, was charged with aggravated assault for the domestic altercation and several traffic offenses.

Just after 11 a.m. Tuesday, were called to Heritage Place Apartments, where Davis had beaten and threatened his 27-year-old girlfriend, said Eunicia Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman. Davis left in the victim’s rental car. She and a friend ran off. The victim and her friend encountered Davis again near West 35th and Florence streets, where he opened fire at the women, Baker said. Neither of the women were hurt.

Having heard the vehicle description on police radios, agents from an undercover drug squad spotted and followed Davis to West 39th and Burroughs Street near Fellwood Homes. Police surrounded and arrested Davis. Detectives and forensics officers were also called to the scene.
