Four people were arrested Tuesday after a joint operation between local and federal police led to a meth bust in a Savannah hotel room.

Brandon Agner, 36, Morgan Cavallucci, 21, both of Harlem, Ga.; Jessica Stokes of Springfield and Curtis Robinson, 36, of Savannah were arrested during the operation at Days Inn on Gateway Boulevard, said Sgt. Gene Harley, Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team spokesman.

Information obtained during the joint investigation by CNT, Savannah-Chatham police and the ATF led officers to search a room at the inn. There they seized marijuana, methamphetamine and items commonly associated with methamphetamine, Harley said.

CNT agents trained in clandestine laboratories secured the room while wearing protective clothing.

All four people arrested are facing various methamphetamine-related charges and remain in the Chatham County jail following an arraignment hearing Wednesday, Harley said.

Investigators from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office say a man they suspect of bilking nearly $10,000 from people in more than a dozen states via what they call a “jury duty scam” is in custody.

Ivan Cain Hamilton, 28, was transported from a state facility to the Chatham County jail Tuesday afternoon, said Gena Bilbo, sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

The agency’s criminal investigations division has linked Hamilton to numerous victims and suspects him of duping people out of nearly $10,000, Bilbo said.

Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Allen O’Berry has been working on the case for five months and is still working to identify several other suspects, Bilbo said.

The investigator discovered Hamilton was conducting the scam from inside a state prison, Bilbo said. The ongoing investigation revealed there are possibly more victims. Bilbo said details of how Hamilton conducted the scam and moved money will not be released until after he is adjudicated.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on charges of theft by deception and impersonating a public official.

People who suspect they’ve been a victim of the scam are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 912-652-7750. Considering investigators believe there are more suspects in the case, deputies want to remind the public that the sheriff’s office will never call and ask for money.
