Savannah-Chatham police have arrested and charged James Emmanuel Robinson, 23, with murder in connection to the suspicious death of a 4-year-old Savannah girl in October 2015, said Eunicia Baker, police spokeswoman.
Robinson was arrested at a residence on the 2100 block of Gamble Street.
The child died on Oct. 27. Three days later police, the Department of Family and Children Services and the Chatham County Coroner’s Office initiated a suspicious death investigation after an autopsy by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Medical Examiner’s Office, Baker said.
Robinson, who was the live-in boyfriend of the victim’s mother at the time of death, attempted suicide after being questioned by police on Oct. 29, Baker said.
DFACS removed the victim's siblings -- ages 7, 5 and 3 -- from the residence. Robinson is also being investigated for criminal acts against the victim’s 3-year-old sibling, Baker said.
