Police say they’re searching for the man who struck a 17-year-old girl with a gun while robbing her at an apartment complex near downtown Savannah on Tuesday night.

Officers and medics responded to Frazier Homes in the 500 block of West Gwinnett Street about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to find the teenager injured, said Eunicia Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman. She was treated by EMS at the scene.

The victim was reportedly approached by an armed male who struck her with his gun several times while robbing her, Baker said.

The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion who is 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet 3 inches tall with a muscular build. During the robbery and assault, he wore a black hoodie with a gray design and black pants. He was last seen traveling south on foot.

Police are asking anyone with information on the case to call the anonymous CrimeStoppers service at 912-234-2020. Callers’ identities are never known, and information that leads to an arrest may result in a cash reward.
