Police say they’re investigating a shooting that sent a 47-year-old woman to a hospital Thursday night on Savannah’s west side.
Officers found the woman suffering from a wound that wasn’t believed to be life threatening about 10:30 p.m. on Gwen Goodman Drive, said Eunicia Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman. She was taken to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment.
The woman was reportedly standing outside when she heard several gunshots and started to run toward safety. She was struck while fleeing.
Detectives don’t think the woman was targeted, Baker said. Police are working to determine identities of the intended target and the shooting suspect.
Several residents of Sustainable Fellwood apartments reported vehicle and property damage.
