A man wanted in the downtown Macon shooting death of Mercer University basketball player Jibri Bryan was apprehended Friday evening.
Damion Deray Henderson, 33, originally of Shreveport, Louisiana with ties to Atlanta, was apprehended just before 6:30 p.m. at an apartment complex in Decatur.
When investigators and the U.S. Marshal's Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force arrived at the apartment, Henderson ran from the back door in an effort to escape, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
Henderson had been on the run since Bryan's slaying Tuesday afternoon. Bryan is a Savannah native and former basketball player at Benedictine.
Henderson, who had friends in west Macon, was thought to hail from elsewhere, with likely ties to Louisiana and Atlanta. He will be taken back to Bibb County, the release said.
Jarvis C. Miller, who was thought to have been an accomplice in the killing, was arrested soon after the shooting and charged with murder.
