The Savannah-Chatham police department's Violent Crimes detectives are investigating a shooting Friday night on the 1800 block of Montgomery Street that led to the death of a 36-year-old man.
Police arrived at a Marathon gas station at about 8:15 p.m. Friday to find Jerald Allen, 36, and a 26-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Eunicia Baker, police spokeswoman.
Both men were taken by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center, where Allen died from his injuries.
The other man's injuries were non-life-threatening.
Baker said there is no information yet on a suspect, and police are still investigating the incident.
Police closed Montgomery between West 32nd and 35th streets, Kline Street between Montgomery and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and Montgomery and Jefferson for several hours as they investigated the incident Friday night.
