Police say they’ve charged two people with stealing liquor from a Savannah shop several times early this year.

Kadijah Wright turned herself in after learning detectives her to a Jan. 13 liquor theft at the shop in the 1700 block of Skidaway Road on Jan. 13, said Eunicia Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman. Wright, who’s 21, was spotted in surveillance video concealing booze in a large purse as another woman distracted employees, Baker said. Then, without paying, the two women left the store.

Wright was charged with shoplifting, which she was also charged with on Feb. 7, when surveillance photos linked her to another liquor theft at the same store.

Baker said Wright was suspected of stealing Fireball, a popular cinnamon-flavored liquor.

Police say the second woman remains at large.

Detectives also charged Antonio Wyche, 23, with shoplifting for a Jan. 21 incident at the store. He was caught on camera taking booze off shelves and leaving the store without paying, Baker said. The day of the shoplifting, he was arrested on unrelated drug charges and taken to jail, where investigators charged him with shoplifting Feb. 13.

The incidents are not believed to be related.
