Waycross — Police in south Georgia say they’ve made two arrests in an arson that killed a firefighter.
Police Chief Tony Tanner said Monday that 23-year-old Ronnie Joseph Cranford and a 17-year-old boy from Waycross were arrested on charges of murder and arson. The Associated Press typically doesn’t identify juvenile crime suspects.
Investigators have said 50-year-old Waycross Fire Lt. Jeff Little was killed in a blaze at a vacant home Sunday. Authorities have said Little was a 12-year department veteran.
Authorities had announced a $10,000 reward for information in the case and Tanner says investigators received information through an arson tip line run by the state fire marshal’s office.
Tanner says the two are being held in the Ware County jail. It’s unclear if they have attorneys.
