Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol say they arrested 75 people for drunken driving during the Savannah St. Patrick’s Day festival.
The arrests, which were made throughout the long festival weekend, were made by troopers based at Post 42 in Rincon and the locally based DUI Nighthawks South Task Force, said State Patrol Cpl. Dale Howell.
Local troopers made 75 arrests for DUI, issued 272 citations, gave 362 warnings, conducted 502 traffic stops and worked 18 wrecks.
“The most important number, however, is zero, which is the number of alcohol-related fatalities in crashes during this time in the Chatham County area,” Howell said.
