A man arrested and charged last week with the February kidnapping and rape of a woman abducted from a Savannah hospital parking lot has been connected to sexual assaults on two women on a local college campus, state police say.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation plans to take warrants out on Torrey Sicarr Nigel Scott for two sexual assaults committed in a Savannah State University residence hall, said Cathy Sapp, special agent in charge of the GBI’s Statesboro office.
Sapp said the exact charges were still being discussed with the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday but would stem from sexual assaults.
The attacks occurred Dec. 5 in University Commons, said Savannah State spokeswoman Loretta Heyward.
Campus police were dispatched about 2:30 a.m. after two female students reported being assaulted and robbed in a unit of the residence hall, which is one of the school’s apartment-style housing buildings.
A campus police incident report indicates the victims reported the assailant had a firearm during the attacks.
The report, which lists rape, aggravated sodomy and aggravated assault as crimes committed, states that video games, a gaming device and a tablet computer also were taken from the victims.
Scott, Heyward said, was not a student at the university. The assaults happened just before fall commencement.
Campus police worked with the GBI on the cases, she said, and conducts ID checks on everyone entering campus after dusk.
Scott, 38, was arrested Friday afternoon for the Feb. 9 incident that began in a parking area at Candler Hospital.
He is charged with kidnapping, rape and parole violation — all felonies — in that case.
About 7:30 on a Sunday morning, a man approached a woman as she got into her car at Candler, robbed her and forced her to drive to a secluded area where he attacked her, said Julian Miller, metro police spokesman.
Miller said that investigation was continuing.
Scott, who remains in the Chatham County jail, is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court on April 3.

Employ the “buddy system” and walk with friends. Also, let friends know when and where you are going, how long you will be gone and when you expect to return. Let your friends know with whom you will be spending time. This alerts them if you are overdue and gives them a reference point to locate you.
