Three people are in custody after police in a multi-agency partnership seized more than a kilogram of cocaine Thursday in two separate counties.

Antonio Garcia, 35, and Humberto Santana-Mantano, 27, were charged with trafficking cocaine, and Justino Santana-Mantano, 30, was charged with party to the crime of tracking cocaine, said Everette Ragan, director of the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team. All three were in the United States illegally, Ragan said, and are being held in the Chatham County jail.

Late Thursday evening, CNT in a working partnership with the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted two search warrants in Bryan and Effingham counties resulted in the seizure of more than one kilogram of cocaine with an estimated street value of as much as $42,000, Ragan said.

The operation is the result of a six-month CNT undercover investigation involving drug sales throughout Chatham, Bryan and Effingham counties, Ragan said.
