Crash closes Chatham Parkway overpass

A crash involving a Georgia Power crane truck and a 1970 Chevy Nova temporarily closed the northbound lanes of the Chatham Parkway overpass at I-16 Saturday. The crash happened shortly after 2 p.m.

According to the Garden City police department both vehicles were traveling south, braking for a yellow light when the Nova struck the back tires of the crane truck causing it to lose control and flip.

Police believe the brakes on the Nova were not functioning properly.
