Accident investigators are seeking the public’s help in locating a dark colored hatchback car as part of an investigation into a fatal Monday morning hit-and-run on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The vehicle being sought is a 2011-12 Nissan Versa that may have damage to its front end, said Julian Miller, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman.

Earlier in the week, Miller said members of the department’s Major Accident Investigation Team were reviewing video of the scene collected from city cameras and were seeking others from private businesses in their search for the vehicle and driver who struck and killed Felicia Wilder of Savannah early Monday.

Police found Wilder, 60, lying in the northbound lanes of MLK near Gaston Street just after midnight Monday, Miller said.

She was taken to Memorial University Medical Center where she died.

Anyone with information on the car, its owner or its location is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

Prescription drug take-back initiative today

Several law enforcement agencies locally are participating in a prescription drug take-back initiative today.

Several drop-off sites will be set across the area for residents to unload expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. The service is free and anonymous, and police staffing the drop-off sites will not ask any questions, said Sgt. Mark Lupus, spokesman for the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team.

The initiative aims to prevent pill abuse and theft, he said.

The effort is set up in conjunction with local agencies and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles — only pills or patches, Lupus said.

In addition to CNT, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office are also participating.

Drop-off sites are as follows:

• Wal-Mart on Whitemarsh Island, 4725 U.S. 80 East

• Wal-Mart at 6000 Ogeechee Road

• Wal-Mart at 1955 E. Montgomery Crossroad

• Wal-Mart in Rincon, 434 S. Columbia Ave.
