Police say a Garden City woman is being charged with aggravated assault and related crimes for a Thursday afternoon incident in which a baby was struck by a rock that she allegedly chucked through the glass portion of a Camaro’s roof.
Kiara Griffin, 24, is being charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threats/acts — both felonies — as well as misdemeanor cruelty to children and criminal damage, said Garden City police Detective Lindsey Talley.
Police are looking for Griffin, who indicated she would turn herself in but hadn’t by Friday afternoon, Talley said.
About 3 p.m. Thursday, another woman was driving the Camaro near where the father of her child lives when Griffin — the man’s girlfriend — went to wait outside and threw a rock at the car as it neared Third Street and De Lettre Avenue, said police Chief David Lyons.
The rock went through the car’s T-top, ricocheted and struck the child in the nose, Lyons said.
Police Capt. Gil Ballard said the baby was not taken to a hospital, but that the brick caused a slight nose bleed.
Garden City police ask anyone with information on Griffin’s location to call 912-966-7787 or CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020.
