Chatham County deputies say a runaway sex offender was arrested last week.
Rodney Velasquez was arrested Dec. 23 on the 200 block of Hampstead Avenue by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registration and Tracking unit and U.S. marshals.
Velasquez had been listed as an absconder for about six months, said Gena Bilbo, sheriff’s office spokeswoman.
Velasquez, 39, was taken to the Chatham County jail without incident, Bilbo said.
