Savannah-Chatham police search for man wanted on felony warrants for battery, sex crimes

Savannah-Chatham police are searching for a suspect with two outstanding felony warrants for separate crimes committed at a Wilmington Island residence last July.

Billy Ray McCormick, 39, is charged with aggravated battery after a fight on July 12, resulting in serious but non-life threatening injuries to the victim, said Eunicia Baker, metro police spokeswoman. McCormick also is charged with sodomy and sexual battery after reportedly engaging in unsolicited sexual contact with the a different victim on July 26. Both crimes involved adult female victims previously acquainted with McCormick and occurred at the same Shad River Road residence, Baker said.

McCormick is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes who stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds. He has multiple tattoos including a truck on his right shoulder, a female on the lower left of his abdomen, a cross on his lower right leg, as well as tattoos on his chest and collar bone. McCormick frequents Tybee and Wilmington islands, however, he could be as far away as North Carolina or Alabama, Baker said.
