Police say they’re looking for a teenager they believe shot a 16-year-old male in Savannah on Wednesday night.
Robbery detectives are searching for the suspect after the other teen was shot on the 1300 block of East 39th Street about 7:50 p.m., said Julian Miller, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of a wound that was considered non-life threatening.
Investigators said victim was riding his bicycle on 39th Street when he stopped to talk to a group of people he knew and the teenager pointed a hand gun at him and demanded his bicycle. After the 16-year-old resisted, he was shot, Miller said.
The victim rode his bicycle to a house on the 1200 block of East 37th Street where police were summoned.
“It’s another tragedy,” police Chief Joseph Lumpkin said Thursday. “... Unfortunately, the individuals are not unknown to us.”
