UPDATE: Man in critical condition after Tuesday shooting in Savannah

Police say an 18-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot Tuesday afternoon during an attempted robbery on Savannah’s south side.

Officers responding to a shooting call in the 600 block of North Williamsburg Road on Tuesday afternoon found the victim lying in the street about 3:50 p.m., said Eunicia Baker, Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman.

He was taken to a Memorial University Medical Center.

Police say the suspect is believed to be Latino or a fair complexioned black male who stands 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 170-180 pounds, has brown eyes and short, dark curly textured hair. During the incident the suspect wore a black shirt, black pants and black shoes. He is believed to have fled on foot toward Largo Drive
