Investigators were on scene in the pouring rain in Savannah’s Live Oak neighborhood Friday afternoon after a man was shot in front of his home.

The man, whose age was not immediately available, was transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.

The shooting victim told officers he walked out of his home on the 1100 block of East 37th Street shortly after 4 p.m. and encountered another man, said Julian Miller, Savannah-Chatham police spokesman. The two men got into a struggle, and at some point a gun was pulled and fired, Miller said.

No arrests had been made late Friday afternoon, and police had not released any information about suspect. The investigation was in its early stages.

Police ask anyone with information on the shooting to call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

Detectives can be reached confidentially at 912-525-3124.
